TYPES OF METAL ROOFS
Metal is an extraordinarily malleable substance that can be cut or molded into any shape. From shingles to panels to corrugated strips, metal roofing can be made to fit any roof. Metal can also be made any color you can imagine. Aside from aesthetics, metal roofing also has many practical advantages. The most obvious being that metal is extremely strong, so it is one of the most durable types of roofing out there. It is waterproof, fireproof, wind resistant, dent resistant and otherwise protective against the elements. This will reduce necessary maintenance or repairs in the future. Metal roofing is also treated with a UV coating so as to disallow heat transfer. This makes the roof much more energy efficient.
Metal Roof Master installs the following types of metal roofs:
- Standing Seam- Standing seammetal roofing is a concealed fastener roofing system which features vertical or trapezoidal legs with a flat space in between. This metal roofing system from MBCI is one of the most durable and weather-tight roof systems available in the industry.
- Metal Tile- Metal tilescan add a versatile and textural design element to your bathroom or kitchen wall or floor. ... Metal tiles are generally made from copper, tin, aluminum and stainless steel, with recycled tiles being environmentally-friendly and popular today.
- 5V Crimp - 5V Crimpis a sleek, low profile roof panel with a 1/2" rib height, making it a popular option for residential homes. 5V Crimp is the timeless “old Florida” look that is most common in residential settings but is also suitable for light commercial applications. Double ribs on the panel edges create the classic 5V look and conceal an anti-siphon channel.
TYPES OF TILE ROOFS
A tile roof is a roof made from clay, ceramic, concrete or slate tiles. Each tile is secured to the roof deck by nails. Just like asphalt shingles, a tile roof is completed by starting at the bottom or lower most part of the roof, securing a row of tiles, then overlapping the next or second row of tiles over the first.
- CONCRETE TILES- This can work with almost any style of home. It comes in all kinds of colors and styles, is low maintenance and very durable. Once again, it can be expensive on the front end of things but that cost is offset by the durability and lifespan. This product is heavy and the roof deck must be engineered properly to handle the weight.
- CLAY TILES- Clay tiles are tough materials. They are made from naturally occurring materials that are baked into the tiles. They usually come in their natural earthy color, thus earning them the nickname “terracotta tiles” although they can also be glazed in a color of your choosing before being baked into shape.
- SLATE TILES- Slate is a natural stone flooring material that is quarried from out of the earth, usually from mountains. Slate tiles are used not only for flooring, but also wall tiling, back splashes, stepping stones, roofing, and a variety of other uses. Slate is probably the most common natural stone in general use.
TYPES OF SHINGLE ROOFS
Roof shingles are a roof covering consisting of individual overlapping elements. These elements are typically flat, rectangular shapes laid in courses from the bottom edge of the roof up, with each successive course overlapping the joints below.
- ARCHITECTURAL SHINGLE- Architectural shingles are high-quality dimensional or laminated shingles that add beauty to your roof. They are made from a fiberglass mat base with ceramic coated minerals that are embedded in water-resistant asphalt. Several layers of material may be used to create the shingles.
- 3-TAB SHINGLE- A 3-tab shingle is distinguished by three uniform cutouts, or tabs, made along the lower edge of the shingles. Benefits of 3-tab shingles include: More cost effective than architectural shingles and provides a nice, uniform look.
TYPES OF FLAT ROOFS
BUILT-UP ROOF (BUR)
The traditional hot-tar-and-gravel roof is built from three or more plies of waterproof material alternated with hot tar and ballasted by a layer of smooth river stone. Once made of tar paper, these types of roofs gradually are using more-advanced materials such as fiberglass membranes.
